FDA approval and compounded medication disclosures

Helix Health and Wellness facilitates access to both FDA-approved brand-name commercial medications and customized compounded medications.

Please be advised that compounded medications are not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Unlike brand-name commercial drugs, compounded formulations do not undergo premarket review by the FDA for safety, effectiveness, or quality.

Compounded medications provided through our network are not “generic versions” of commercial brands. They are not manufactured by, associated with, or endorsed by the manufacturers of the corresponding brand-name products. Compounding is performed by independent, state-licensed compounding pharmacies or FDA-registered outsourcing facilities based on individual patient requirements or during periods of official national drug shortages. The specific pharmacy or facility preparing your medication will be explicitly identified on your prescription label.

Compounded medication risks

Some treatments available through Helix Health and Wellness may be compounded medications.

Compounded medications are not FDA-approved. The FDA does not review compounded medications for safety, effectiveness, or quality before they are dispensed. Compounded medications may therefore carry risks that differ from those associated with FDA-approved commercial products.

Your prescribing healthcare provider and dispensing pharmacy should be consulted regarding the specific formulation prescribed to you.

Peptide and research compound risks

Certain peptides and related compounds have limited human safety data. For some compounds, there may be insufficient information regarding appropriate dosing, long-term safety, drug interactions, immunogenicity, toxicity, or potential adverse effects.

The FDA has identified safety concerns for certain peptide substances, including concerns involving immunogenicity, peptide-related impurities, inadequate characterization, and limited human safety information.

Accordingly, the absence of a known adverse effect does not mean that a product is proven to be safe.

Injectable product risks

Injectable treatments carry additional risks because they introduce substances directly into the body. Potential complications can include:

• Pain, redness, swelling, or bruising
• Local irritation

• Abscess formation

Products with limited clinical data may have risks that have not yet been identified or adequately studied. Individual responses can vary substantially.

Contraindications and precautions
